About QASRA

Where it all began

Syed Abdul Hamid Chishty
Syed Abdul Hamid Chishty

The Quran and Sunnah Research Academy (QASRA) is built on a legacy of sincerity, truthfulness, and devotion to authentic Islamic learning. Its roots go back to our respected elder Hazrat Syed Abdul Hamid Sahab, whose life reflected humility, clarity of thought, and a pure commitment to the Quran, the Prophet's authentic Sunnah, and the noble traditions of the Ahl-e-Bait.

As the world changed and misinformation about Islam grew, Syed Ali Hamza Chishty and Syed Badrudduja Chishty recognized the need for an institution that could document, safeguard, and present Islamic teachings with academic honesty and spiritual depth. QASRA was established as a research-focused institution rather than a conventional religious centre.

Quran-Centred

Centred on the Quran in the fullest sense: every course, article, and discussion begins from its words and returns to them before any other claim is made. We treat the Book as the first measure of truth — not a slogan at the start of a talk, but the frame through which history, law, and daily practice are read. When opinions compete, the Quran remains the place we stand.

Authentic Hadith

Hadith is handled with discipline, not haste. Narrations are checked, compared, and taught only when their chains and content can be discussed openly — including important Ahl-e-Bait traditions that many circles skip. Students learn how a report travels, why strength differs from weakness, and how the Prophet’s Sunnah is protected without turning scholarship into noise or slogan.

Non-Sectarian

Independent of political parties, paid fatwas, and the pressure to pick a sect before you pick a source. QASRA keeps the door open for learners of every background who want clarity more than a label. Disagreement is allowed; contempt is not. The aim is shared ground in the Quran and verified Sunnah, not victory for one camp over another.

Evidence-Based

Scholarship here means showing your work. Claims are tied to texts, manuscripts, history, and clear reasoning — not to volume of voice or trend of the moment. If a point cannot be traced, we say so. Readers should leave able to check the same page, the same narration, and the same argument for themselves.

Honest Research

Honest research is slow on purpose. We document what we find, admit what we do not know, and refuse to polish a weak line into a strong one for the sake of looking certain. Notes, references, and careful wording are part of the duty we owe to teachers before us and to students who will read this work years from now.

Thoughtful Teaching

Teaching should leave people thinking, not only repeating. Classes and writings invite real questions, walk through evidence, and send learners back to the original sources with confidence. The goal is not a crowd that agrees on cue, but minds that can read, compare, and stay sincere when the answer is difficult.

Youth & Seekers

Young people and quiet seekers both deserve answers that are clear, calm, and free of performance. We write and teach so that someone opening a book for the first time — or returning after years of confusion — can find a path that is sincere, grounded, and usable in ordinary life, not only on a stage.

AI

Models we trained at QASRA

We re-trained open models on Hadith data. A plain NLLB-style run starts near loss 8; ours finishes much lower (for example Arabic to Urdu ~1.19, Urdu to Hindi ~0.24). Our light transliterator stays cleaner than big general models like Gemma 4 or GPT-5.4 nano on this job, without mixing Hindi into Urdu or Arabic, and uses about 2% of their memory.

A pair is one Hadith written in two languages with the same meaning. We used about 18 lakh pairs (nearly 1.8 million) so the models could learn careful translation from real Hadith text.

Our Legacy

From a khanqah to a research academy

For many years, QASRA existed quietly as a khanqah — a place where people came to learn, reflect, ask questions, and grow spiritually. It motivated Muslims towards modern knowledge, supported democratic values, and shaped a confident Indian-Muslim identity rooted in shared heritage.

“Islam has never feared knowledge. True knowledge broadens the heart and sharpens wisdom.”

— Teaching of the Khanqah

Modern Knowledge

Encouraging exploration of physics, mathematics, medicine, literature, and technology as a form of worship and service.

Civic Engagement

Participating in democracy is not abandoning religion — it is an extension of Islamic duty. Fairness, consultation, and responsible leadership.

Shared Heritage

An identity that is proudly Muslim, proudly Indian, and enriched by the beauty of coexistence and Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb.
